Lighthouse Point Park Engagement
Emma and Laura will be getting married in Philly this coming summer, but New Haven proved an ideal backdrop for their fun and silly but stylish engagement shoot. These girls dressed perfectly for the two locations we had selected. We started off at Yale where we hit up Old Campus and Beinecke Plaza (also known as the Hewitt Quadrangle) for two very different architectural looks. I love the way the bright colors in Emma’s pants picked up on the tones in the bold, chunky necklace Laura wore. I always tell people to dress like they’re going to the same party, and Emma and Laura perfectly embodied that advice.
We then headed to Lighthouse Point, one of my favorite destinations for weddings and engagements. Laura and Emma wanted to stay stylish on the beach but also to change into something that fit with the casual vibe of the beach shoot. The key? Bright colors. Emma’s green shorts and playful patterns and Laura’s yellow cardigan and striking red necklace gave us the pop we were looking for as the couple played on the swings, meandered out on the rocks, and climbed up on the lifeguard chair (hoping no one would catch us!).
Finn, the Boston Terrier, looks good with all outfits. Especially when he’s giving kisses to his moms.
Layers are also great for engagement shoots. Emma pulls on the blazer, and bam, a whole new look without having to take the time to get changed.
Lighthouse Point has everything from the swings to the carousel to the lighthouse itself, but nothing is quite as romantic as simple shots where the water hits the sand looking out over the Long Island Sound.
