Best of New Haven Weddings

The best of New Haven Weddings has been a blog post floating in my mind lately. Being a wedding photographer based in New Haven, I’m obviously partial to the city. It’s a place where many of my clients come back to celebrate with their friends and family, having been raised in and around Connecticut. Maybe they have migrated to New York City and live there now. But they end up coming back for classic architecture, funky venues and a healthy nod to being budget friendly compared to NYC.

You can’t forget that New Haven is home to Yale. It’s where many of my couples were first on their own, making new friends and connections. And most of those connections endure today so it only seems fitting to bring the gang back together! Yale alumni weddings are always a kick because many of the guests are very familiar with the area. And those that aren’t? They enjoy the tour of the stomping grounds of the couple. I have been in trolleys with all the guests getting driven to the reception where the grooms were pointing out where they had their first kiss.

Don’t worry, I’m not forgetting the graduate students. With the wife getting her PhD in English, I often find myself crossing paths with new and past couples in the small downtown area. Sometimes I even run into the rehearsal dinner party of my wedding for the next day while sipping my Blue State coffee.

I often return to shoot lighthouse point park weddings, because many of my couples love it for the same reasons I do. A ceremony on the sand overlooking the sunset. A carousel that spins and lights up throughout the night. Space that’s flexible enough to allow for pizza trucks to come in but glam enough to feel good drenched in sequins.

Roia restaurant is a new wedding venue in New Haven Connecticut and definitely catering to the couple looking for a more elegant affair with a focus on delicious food. Restaurant wedding venues are usually a good bet if you’re having a small, intimate wedding and you want to skip the usual wedding catering feel. With floor to ceiling velvet curtains and marble table tops, this is definitely on your list if you want a classic but funky feel. roia-restaurant-winter-wedding best of new haven weddings best-of-new-haven-weddings-023 jewish-connecticut-wedding dancing at lighthouse point park reception carousel-connecticut-wedding
